I joined an event "SEED EXCHANGE in TOKYO" Mr.John Moore held yesterday. It's the event to exchange native seeds. I've grown some vegetables at my veranda since about one and a half year ago. These are almost of vegetables from native seeds. And I get some native seeds from vegetables I grew. This cycle is very important for plants. Do you know many plants and native seeds are in danger of becoming extinct in the world? Even daizu we eat as daily food in Japan,we have only a little native beans. We have to save Japanese traditional taste for the next generation. What do you think? I want you to think about your food, vegetables and seeds. For your family, friends, lovely kids and our planet.
This event was held at a nice organic restaurant. So, we enjoyed exchanging other seeds with eating and talking together. It was really fun! Yeah, we had a wonderful time!! And I'll continue this activity with fun and hope!；）
These are seeds I brought and exchanged at the event yesterday. 昨日私が持参した種と交換して持ち帰った種たち
I brought my seeds I got at my veranda this year to this event. If you'd like to know about the seeds, please visit my another blog. →http://ameblo.jp/mittanr/entry-11649141443.html(SEEDSコレクション ベランダ菜園の種たち♪） 私が自宅で育てた植物の種について、もう一つのブログにもアップしています。 よろしかったらご覧ください＾＾
Many plants and native seeds are in danger of becoming
extinct in the world.
Does that mean there have been so many
"genetic modifications" ?
Most of the food we eat are imported , I know.
Where do those soy beans come from?
From the USA?
The prices of domestic vegetables are more expensive
than those of exported vegetables?
I don't know anything but I 'm so curious.
To be healthy, we should pay attention to what kind of food we get(=eat).
We have to remember that our body is made by what we eat.
But less chemical or no chemical vegetable is too expensive.
Don't you think so?
That is a problem.
Thank you very much for your comment!
You are right.
I agree with you.
It's a big problem the price of domestic and organic vegetables are very high.
And I think the worst problem for seeds is GM foods as you say, especially soybeans.
I guess a lot of soybeans come from USA or Canada.
It can't be helped?
But, I want to save Japanese native seeds and true taste for the next generation.
