Hi, how are you? I hope you have been being in a nice summer.
By the way, is there anything to do for your health? And, have you been doing any sports?
My husband and I go to gym almost every weekend for keeping our health. And we enjoy playing squash recently. Have you ever played squash? I think it's a hard sport. We aren't good at playing squash, but we sweat heavily after playing it. And we always have to focus on the fast move of squash ball. So, I think it’s really good for our brain as well as physical health! And, when we play the game we impose the penalty to loser, for example ironing shirt or washing the dishes. I have never won to my husband. So, I want to be winner this weekend!
Last Saturday, I met seven friends who were coworkers before. And we went to a restaurant for dinner. One of my friends had reserved a table for us. But, when we arrived the restaurant, a waiter asked if we can change to another table. The reason was that one guest of another group can't bend legs. Actually there is Japanese-style room(tatami)for group on the second floor at the restaurant, and only one of these tables is the seats like a trench style kotatsu. Umm, it's can't be helped. So we consented to the waiter’s request. But, we wondered how person is the guest who can’t bend legs. And we guessed the guest was an old person or a handicapped person.
After a while, an interesting thing happened. One of my English teachers came to the restaurant. He is an American guy. He said “ Hi,Michiko!” to me. I was very surprised! And he joined in the group that we changed table. Oh, I see! We understood! The person who can’t bend legs is a foreigner, besides it was my English teacher! Wow, how funny happening!!
After that we were given the sherbet from the group as the thanks. It was so delicious!
And, other food in the restaurant were also all delicious and reasonable.
We enjoyed eating hors d’oeuvre, pizza, pasta, salad, cheese fondue and dessert, and drinking beer, wine and sour. And we enjoyed talking and hearing about a lot of things of each other. Yeah! We had a wonderful time!!
Do you remember your memory from something you got?
The other day, I got a vegetable’s gift that was packed with a lot of kinds of vegetables, and there was a big winter melon in the package. It is called "tougan" in Japanese, and we write "冬瓜" by kanji. Yes! it means winter melon. But, don't you think it is strange about the name? Because winter melon is one of the summer vegetable. Do you know why it has come to be called so? It is said that the name was named because it is kept long until winter. Um…I doubt if it is true.
By the way, how do you usually eat tougan? I cooked a Philippine homemade food "Teinolang Manok". It is the soup made with green papaya, chicken, ginger, garlic and namplaa, etc. This time, I used tougan instead of green papaya. And, it was so delicious! I recommend to eat the hot country’s food when we are in these hot summer.
And, I remembered the trip to Cebu island in Philippine about three years ago. As a matter of fact it was alone trip for studying English. And I can’t forget the scared feeling when I arrived at the Cebu airport. Because a Philippine woman next to my seat in plane to go to Cebu talked about the danger of my alone trip. She said I shouldn’t go to Philippine during the flight. So I really thought I might not be able to come back to Japan safely at that time. But ,the trip was so wonderful, and I learned about a lot of things from the good experience. However I think I also have to appreciate my luck.
Congratulations Nadeshiko Japan! Thanks a lot Nadeshiko Japan!! I'm proud of Japanese women like you.
The world women's soccer final was Japan vs. the United States. It was the first final game for Japan, besides, they hadn't won the United States before.
The United States took the first score, but Japan also took same score, and Nadeshiko didn't give up in the game. And all Nadeshiko had smiles before the PK. I felt Japan might become the winner at that time. And Nadeshiko won the championship at last. How wonderful! Thank you for giving us the deep emotion. ＼(^o^)／
The rainy season has ended last weekend in Kanto area. When I got up at yesterday morning, the weather was so beautiful, so my husband and I went driving to Shonan, and we ate nice fish's food for lunch at the popular restaurant"Umibe". It was so delicious!
I went to Asagri highland with my husband and his friends yesterday. The weather was changing a lot, and we did bird-watching in the woods and marshes. It was the bird watching like exploration. And we had a wonderful time though we could not watch the purpose bird.
This photo is Tanuki lake. Here is the famous spot that can see the diamond Mt.Fuji, but we could not see it. However the lake in mist was so beautiful.
Hello thank you for coming to my blog. Today, I'd like to introduce a music video.
This music video was produced by Mr. Ryo Ito. He is a music producer. And we are follower in Twitter, and I knew this project from his tweet. I thought it was an interesting and happy project.
And he was looking for salad’s photos for this video at that time. So I invited my English teacher to join it because she and I like talking about cooking and she is good at making salad.
The video’s title is "La La La of Salad". It sounds fun, right?! It's a really nice song with many salad's photos. And yes, actually there are salad's photos my English teacher and I made in this video. Her salad's photos are "英会話の先生が作ったサラダ"and "サラダディナー", and my salad's photo is "シカクマメサラダ".
I’m very glad to join in this video, and I feel happy! And, I hope you enjoy listening and seeing it. You might feel like making and eating salad. Thank you.
It is July from today. Wow, half a year passed in this year.
And, we know that we will have a hard summer in Japan this year. We had the great earthquake, and electricity shortage is a big issue in this summer. So, we have to try to save electricity by everyone. I have been using electric fan instead of air conditioner when I stay home alone.
↓And this is my favorite fan, no, the pen !
This is a ballpoint pen with fan. It is cute, isn't it ?! The cool breeze comes to my face when I study.
I want to find a way to spend time with a little fun even in this severe summer. Have a great weekend !!
