I met my friends in Yokohama today, and enjoyed eating lunch with talking. We were coworkers before, and we meet once in a while together. Today, we talked about how we have been spent each other since the earthquake and nuclear power's troubles. After that, we enjoyed window shopping, and I bought tarts at a famous shop for my family and me.
I took my English conversation lesson today. And my teacher and I talked about "success and happiness".
What do you think about success?
I think it is success that he/she has achieved happiness.
And, what do you give advice to people who want to be happier?
My advice is that you choose what is the most important to you and trust your personal choice. I think it is important to follow your heart.
By the way, I’m planning to join a group of my English teacher, and I will do volunteer work with them at the charity event on May 3. I hope the weather will be fine. If you have some time please check the website. Have a wonderful GW holiday!
Last Saturday night, I went to Noge with my husband and his friends.
Have you ever been to Noge? As a matter of fact, I went to there for the first time. Noge is in the land side of Sakuragicho Station. The atmosphere is different between the sea side and the land side of Sakuragicho Station. The sea side is the modern Minatomirai area. On the land side, there are many type of small unique restaurants and bars in the area. One of his friends knows many shops in Noge, so he took us to some interesting small shops.
We really enjoyed drinking ,eating ,talking and singing at there. I thought Noge is an interesting town in Yokohama.
There was a very small stand-drink wine bar, and wine and cheese were delicious and the master was a cool guy.
We bought Dorayaki and Daihuku in the famous shop.
I took an English lesson of my favorite teacher today. It was the meeting again with her since the large earthquake on March 11. She had gone to her country Canada in the spring holiday since the next day of that earthquake.
And she came back to Japan at the beginning of April.
Actually I had been worried about she might not come back to Japan. Because..., I think how her parents are worrying of her. I told about my mind and thanks for her. She said Japan is the country like her home country, and she was very worried about the people in Tohoku. I was very very glad to hear that, and we got tears together.
Then we talked about the information given from Japanese government. Her opinion and my opinion were same. Japanese government don’t give the information enough because they are afraid of making panic by people. We think it means Japanese government don’t trust the Japanese people. But, on the other hand we also think they don't know what to do. Yes, it was the too huge earthquake disaster. Anyway, we want to do what we can do for helping the people of disaster area.
Have you ever drunk Noni drink? Actually Noni has a strange smell. So I made the noni dressing with herb because they are often used to remove a bad smell from meat and fish. Today, I’d like to show you about the recipe for salad with thyme-noni dressing.
【Salad with Noni×Thyme Dressing】
Ingredients(Serves 2) 3 Green asparagus (アスパラガス 3本) 1 Carrot (にんじん 小1本) White celery for topping(トッピング用ホワイトセロリ) [Dressing] 1tsp. Noni Pure (ノニピュア 小さじ1) 1/2tbsp. EV olive oil (EVオリーブオイル 大さじ1/2) 2tsp. Red wine vinegar(赤ワインビネガー 小さじ2) 1/2tsp. Lemon juice (レモン果汁 小さじ1/2) Thyme as you like (タイムの葉を好きなだけ) 1/4tsp. Salt (塩 小さじ1/4) Pepper as you like (こしょう適量)
Directions ①Cut green asparagus in half and boil. ②Cut carrot in the same size as green asparagus and boil. ③Mix ingredients for dressing. Make sure the vegetables are not boiled too much. The fresh smell of thyme and the acidity of the wine vinegar match with Noni-pure. And I recommend eating the salad of green asparagus and carrot together because you can take vitamin A,C and E at the same time that have antioxidation power.
I saw a video on You Tube a few days ago. It was a film on which twelve years old girl had made a speech at the conference of environment held in Brazil in 1992. Her name is Severn Suzuki. It is called the legend amazing speech. I was really impressed with her speech, and I regret I had been too carefree until now.
What have we done for the earth and the environment, though about twenty years passed from that time? I’m sure we have to think about the future global environment for not us ,but our posterity.
My friends and I went to the Kamakura art hall to listen to the violin concert by Taro Hakase last night. As you know, Taro Hakase is a famous violinist who plays the music of classic, jazz, pop, etc.
In this concert, he tried a stage of new type for him. So he played a few music of Brahms on the first stage. As a matter of fact, it was a little difficult for me to enjoy these melody. But on the second stage, he played some kinds of music with other string instruments players. I was very impressed with their beautiful and exciting sounds, and we really enjoyed this concert.
And sunflower's seeds were given to us in this concert hall. I'm going to plant the seeds in the planter in my house soon. We hope sunflowers will bloom in this summer in all Japan.
I like this American TV drama. This is a musical comedy of the glee club in a high school. But glee club seem to be quite different between in Japan and America. And I knew there are two meaning "joy" and "chorus" in Glee. Anyway I'd like to recommend watching this drama to you if you want to be cheerful. You can watch this drama on NHKBS premium from 10:00p.m on Fridays.
And my favorite sentence in this drama is “By its very definition, Glee is about opening yourself up to joy.” “グリーとは自分を解放し歓喜すること”
I joined a cooking lesson held at a restaurant with my friend yesterday. That is my favorite restaurant in Yokohama.
にき亭 in 横浜そごう
And the lesson is the type of taking the demonstration from chef of the restaurant. There were two chefs and eighteen women in the lesson. We learned about cooking of the pasta with crab and tomato's cream sauce. I really enjoyed the lesson because we were able to see the professional’s skill of chefs and to ask them any question.
After the lesson we enjoyed eating these food with talking together.
The food was so delicious! So I will try to cook the pasta by myself. And my friend and I booked another lesson at the restaurant. I'm looking forward to the next time!
I found a pot plant of the young leaves of Japanese pepper at a greengrocery today. Then, I didn't hesitate to buy it because it is usually expensive. The price was 890yen! You also think it's a special price, right? And I like the fresh smell of them.
So I put the young leaves of Japanese pepper on the side dish for dinner. It is the firefly squid and spring onion with vinegar miso. This is a quite seasonal dish in Japan. It is fit for sake or shochu.(^.^)
I think that the shock of the food industry by the radiation poisoning is very large. The almost all the restaurants were not crowded though I went out to eat recently. I guess visitors are getting less from various reasons that include the self-control, but I think we should go out to eat as usual to make Japan energetic.
This photo was taken at the restaurant "chef'sV" on 5F in Yokohama Landmark Tower.
I went to Kamakura with my husband yesterday. And we enjoyed walking around Genjiyama and Kitakamakura. It was a beautiful and calm day.
But, we had a first shocking experience at there! When we were eating Inarizushi on a bench, a kite whizzed through us and took Inarizushi in a flash!! Oh my God～～!!! We were very very surprised. It was the happening in a split second. And I knew it was right that the kite like deep-fried bean curd.
「鳶に油揚げをさらわれたような顔をして」を、英語では、 "with a stupid look of surprise"と表します。な感じかな。。。
